This poetic, tragicomic, and delightfully absurd tale blends object theatre with clowning and visual arts. In a delicate, evocative, and joyfully chaotic way, it describes to young audiences the meaning of uprooting and isolation.
This five-scene melodrama, complete with a lettuce and a sprinkle of breadcrumbs, tells the story of a little green pea, a survivor of a refugee camp from which he escaped. On stage, an imperious clown, guardian of the story and her vegetable garden, where she discovers the lonely pea, decides to help him. She sets off on a journey around the world to try to discover where he comes from and who his family are.
The stage world, composed of fabricated characters and everyday objects, is built as the quest unfolds. Each scene crystallizes into an image that is then “framed,” allowing the audience to visit the exhibition of these works at the end of the performance.
