Helios Theater Germany

Water is enormous power, sputtering life and sparkling joy. Maybe it is a melting ice–block, a shimmering fountain, as a refreshing drink or a sweeping wave, as an element of sound or reflector of light, in this performance it always takes on new forms. It inspires performers and audience alike and generates a poetry that gives us an idea of the Wonder of Life. It starts with one single drop…

This is engaging “discovery” theatre exploring water’s many playful properties. Minimal language, object puppetry, installation theatre.

This beautiful piece was a part of our first edition of the WeeFestival in 2014. With an audience limit of 60 persons and only 6 shows, only a handful of children and families had the chance to see it. We’re glad to share it with a new audience and for many more.

About Helios Theater

HELIOS Theater was founded in Cologne in 1989 by a group of professional artists from different art forms, moving in 1997 to the city of Hamm. The company is headed by Barbara Kölling as a director and Michael Lurse as a puppeteer.  In close co-operation with actors, puppeteers and musicians Barbara Kölling develops challenging theatre performances for all age groups that imprint the work of the theatre. The artistic process often starts from the material itself, a certain subject or a tale. HELIOS productions have received many awards and are regularly invited to the prominent theatre festivals in Germany as well as throughout Europe. HELIOS Theater also organises the biennale festival for young audience “hellwach” and regularly hosts conferences and symposia dealing with current questions in theatre for children and young people.
