Chance Kellner & Anna Tierney (Ontario)

The As We Grow Show combines acoustic music with sensory, theatrical moments in an environment that is welcoming and relaxed. Perfect for babies 0-12 months and their carers.
Co-creators Chance Kellner and Anna Tierney share a mutual love of music, live theatre and creating nourishing community spaces and experiences. They began this show in 2019 in Roncesvalles and they are excited to be bringing their magical show to the Redwood Theatre in Toronto’s East End. Anna and Chance love the pure, bold, unapologetic imagination that comes with making shows for children and are excited to share this musical experience with you.

About Chance Kellner & Anna Tierney

Chance Kellner is a musician, educator, and theatre practitioner. She values community spaces and the ability music has as a universal language to connect people of all ages. She believes music should be shared collectively in an environment that encourages other forms of expression – specifically dance and theatre. She is now a mother to a lively and engaging 2 year old, currently living in Toronto’s west end.
Chance has worked extensively with young people over the past decade. She studied theatre and education at Queen’s University in Kingston, and went on to teach primary school and live abroad in London, England for five years. In London she established and ran her violin teaching studio for ages 3-13. Her students inspired her to create and direct The Trad Academy Summer Camp where kids were immersed in a world of folk music and dance. She cherishes the community of music learning that blossomed out of that work.
Chance moved back to Toronto in 2016 where she continues to teach music to children and collaborate with various folk musicians and performers around the city.

Anna Tierney is a classically trained actor from London, England with firm roots in Toronto. She believes in making new work that is inspired by the communities around her. She first began performing professionally at Oxford University, where she studied on a scholarship and afterwards went on to the acclaimed Drama Centre London (Central Saint Martins) to train as an actor, where the likes of Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Tom Bettany, Gwendoline Christie and Emila Clarke had trained before her.
She has since worked internationally and with some of the U.K’s most prestigious theatres, including Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2014, she went on to remount Timberlake Wertenbaker’s famous award-winning play Our Country’s Good with Out Of Joint theatre company’s U.K and International Tour to the U.S. (The Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis) and Canada to Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theater. It was during this tour and those seven weeks in Toronto that she fell in love with the theatre scene in Canada and also with her current partner, a musician from Toronto, and four years later gained Permanent Residency in Canada for the category of Artistic Excellence.
