Associate Artist | Derek Kwan

 
Derek Kwan is an actor, singer, and theatre creator working at the intersection of various forms including opera, clown, and puppetry. His performing career has taken him across Canada and the globe, from London, England, to performances in Czech Republic, Mexico, Japan, China, and beyond. Most recently, he has been working with Heather Marie Annis to create a clown-based show for very young audiences at the WeeFestival, Pack Rats; and is also a Therapeutic Clown, currently serving Etobicoke residents as part of MABELLEarts’ food security program, The Mabelle Pantry . Derek is a member of the Live Cinema Collective in this year’s Canadian Stage’s RBC Emerging Artists Residency, and can be heard in Factory Theatre’s audio drama series, You Can’t Get There From Here. Derek was nominated for 4 Dora Mavor Moore Awards for his work in theatre and received the Toronto Theatre Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his role in Mr. Shi and His Lover.
