Accessibility

  • All WeeFestival performances are presented in a “Relaxed” format which means there are no loud noises, no blackouts, and while each show is between 30 and 45 minutes, children who need to take a break should feel free to do so.
  • Visual Stories are available to support your student or child’s visit to festival venues, feature performances and the overall festival experience.
  • Service animals are permitted, please contact Boxoffice@weefestival.ca. Complimentary companion tickets are available.
  • All WeeFestival venues rented for this event are wheelchair accessible however they cannot be considered Barrier Free.

This year, we will offer 2 performances with Relaxed Audio Description

RAD will be provided by the wonderful Kat Germain who developed this unique and child-centred approach to Audio Description for Relaxed Performances this way.

Relaxed Audio Description, or RAD, is like a narrated guide during a live show. It can support understanding and meaning-making for Blind or partially sighted audience members, children and adults who are neurodivergent, have sensory sensitivities, or may just otherwise benefit from a little extra guidance during a performance.

Through an earpiece—or sometimes by sitting near a speaker with a low volume—audience members hear RAD as it describes the performers, their actions, and occasionally highlights key story points. It may also offer a gentle cue before anything sudden or surprising happens, like a louder noise.

Because RAD is delivered through a quiet speaker or personal earpiece, it can be used, paused, removed, or moved away from at any time—whatever feels most comfortable.
